Celtic face competition over one of their reported midfield targets. The Bhoys are likely to sign at least one midfielder before the window shuts on September 3, and they may well sign two.
Celtic still don't look strong enough in midfield, although with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suspended, Mika Baur had to play out of position in a holding role in the ill-fated CHampions League games.
With Arne Engels yet to be replaced, there is no doubting that Celtic needs midfielders, and there are three main candidates - Gvidas Gineitis, Niko Sigur and Ermin Mahmic.
Ermin Mahmic competition emerges
Mahmic has been eyed for much of the summer by Celtic, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international currently with Czechia side Slovan Liberec.
At just 21 years of age, Mahmic caught the eye with three appearances for his nation at this summer's World Cup, scoring twice. But it's not just Celtic who are interested, and according to InFootball, Greek giants PAOK are now looking to make a move.
PAOK are yet to make an offer, but Celtic are also yet to strike a deal, though they have held talks.
Celtic are likely to spring into action now that the Champions League qualification is over and done with,even having to rely on the lesser revenue of the Europa League.
The question will be who they decide to go for, given it is likely to be two of the three reported targets who are signed, and there may yet be other irons in the fire.
Just over a week remains in the Scottish transfer window, but Celtic will be well aware that clubs whose window shuts on September 1 may not be willing to sell after that point, given they will not be able to replace players they sell.
The race is on for Celtic now, and they know it after Tuesday night.
