Celtic are expected to bring in some fresh faces in this winter window but in the early portion of it, they seem to be more concerned about parting ways with players. Stephen Welsh has moved to KV Mechelen on loan already. And Odin Thiago Holm is believed to be on the verge of an exit as well in search of playing time.
Welsh is not the only centre-back who has struggled for chances at Celtic recently. Another name that falls under that category is that of Maik Nawrocki.
Celtic signed Nawrocki in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €5 million. That is a significant figure for the Hoops and one would have expected the Polish centre-back to take Carl Starfelt's place in the starting XI.
Nawrocki has not played much football since then though. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales are all ahead of him in the pecking order. And as a result, it might be time for a change in scenery to get his career back on track.
English club want to sign €5 million Celtic player
As reported by the Daily Record, Oxford United want to sign Nawrocki on loan. The English club want to strengthen their defence in their attempt to help their survival bid.
Of course, plenty of players have made the move from Celtic to England over the years. It remains to be seen if Nawrocki will follow that same path, as he struggles to get game time at Parkhead.
At the same time, he could be hoping to continue playing top flight football somewhere out on loan. And considering how highly he was rated when he arrived at Celtic, there could definitely be clubs out there who are willing to sign him this winter.
