Over the past few weeks, it has all been about players leaving Celtic. The club have had their complete focus on parting with those already at Parkhead but not in Brendan Rodgers' plans. Of course, that is an important task. That being said, it is important to find a balance and they simply have not done anything of note when it comes to making signings.
Do not get us wrong, signings have been made this summer. But how many of them will have an impact in the starting XI, we do not know. The highest transfer fee spent has been the £1.5 million to bring Benjamin Nygren from FC Nordsjaelland.
You do not need to look far. Just last summer, Celtic had spent a record £11 million to sign Arne Engels and a further £9.5 million on the Adam Idah transfer package. They are nowhere near close to matching even that show of ambition from a year back.
Hopefully, things will turn around in the coming weeks. But for now, it looks like all the talk is about further exits, with a striker potentially the next to head for the exit door.
English club keen on signing Celtic player this week
As reported by Alan Nixon on Patreon (via EFL Analysis), Bolton Wanderers are keen on signing Johnny Kenny this week. The League One side are hoping to agree a fee soon. Celtic want £1 million while the English club are willing to do business with £500k up front and potential extras.
It remains to be seen how things turn out for Kenny. There have been moments this pre-season when he has been very impressive.
But does that mean that he will get playing time next season? Most probably not. So, a change of teams might not be a bad idea for him.
