With a new ownership and manager in place, there is no doubt that the Rangers will be hoping to catch up with Celtic this season after losing four straight title races. And to be honest, they have shown a bit more activity in the summer transfer window so far as well when compared to the glacial pace at which the Hoops seem to be moving.

The league season has now begun for the Rangers, and let's just say that this is not the start their supporters would have been hoping for. They took the early lead but then conceded in the 87th-minute against Motherwell.

The game ended in a draw and the Rangers had dropped points on day one of the new Premiership season. Welcome back to the Ibrox supporters.

It is safe to say that their supporters were not happy with how things turned out. On the othe hand, Celtic fans were left laughing once again at their crosstown rivals.

One Rangers fan described the result as 'embarrassing'. On the other hand, it looks like some have given up on the new manager already, as one wrote: "Get Martin out. Clueless."

Some are already getting flashbacks to the past watching this Martin's new-look side play, as one added: "Like watching a Warburton team. That was a tough watch."

Well, it was nice viewing for Celtic supporters, that is for sure. One wrote: "Where's the different Rangers Tav promised us?"

Another chose to poke fun at the lofty rumours that have surrounded the Ibrox club all summer, as he said: "Should have brought on Modric."

Well, Celtic have their job cut out for themselves as well. They will be taking on St Mirren on Flag Day. From what we have seen over pre-season, they absolutely cannot expect this to be a walk in the park.

The Hoops look weaker right now than they ended last season, and that was not Celtic at its best by any means. More signings need to be made as soon as possible but there won't be any before the opening game, that is for sure. So, Brendan Rodgers will need to find a way to make things work with a squad that is paper-thin in multiple areas of the pitch. Hopefully, he can get that done and multiple additions are made over the weeks that follow. One can only hope at this point.
