Dundee boss Steven Pressley is unsure who he will select for one of the most important positions in his side for the opening game with Celtic on Monday night.
The countdown is well and truly on to the Monday night clash between the Hoops and Dundee at Parkhead. Celtic go into the clash with their summer business not even close to being done amid a frustrating window so far.
Meanwhile, Dundee had a stinker in their last pre-season friendly, losing 3-0 to EFL League Two side Bristol Rovers this week. Pre-season results mean nothing, of course, but that result will have worried fans ahead of an away date with league-winners Celtic.
Pressley on pressing goalkeeper position
While Dundee were on the wrong end of a thumping, manager Pressley was impressed by goalkeeper Owen Goodman, who is a very recent arrival on loan from Crystal Palace.
“He was excellent, he really was,” said Pressley, as detailed by The Courier.
“I’m not a goalkeeping expert. But, in watching him, and taking the feedback around him from people that have worked with him, the one thing that came back to us time and time again was he can make big saves. And, on Wednesday night, he made a couple of big saves.
“He’s quite an imposing figure but he’s very agile and he can make, like I said, these types of saves."
Meanwhile, Kieran O'Hara has been a reliable back-up stopper for Dee, and Pressley is not ruling out a start against Celtic.
“I was on record saying that I think that Kieran (O’Hara) as done a brilliant job. He was such a support to Jon (McCracken) last season," Pressley continued.
“When I talk about the culture, he’s brilliant around the place. And then when he got his opportunity (last season), he performed really well, and he’s performed well in the (Premier Sports Cup) games.
So, of course, that gives me a decision to make.”
