A lot of mistakes were made in this summer transfer window by Celtic. Of course, a large portion of the complaints has been about the signings that they made, or failed to make. But on the other hand, one cannot forget the departures as well. In a number of instances, it feels like they might have gotten those wrong as well, both for themselves and the players.
One player who did impress in the few chances that he received last season was Maik Nawrocki. Yet, for some reason, Brendan Rodgers never looked too keen to give him chances in the first-team.
Unsurprisingly, he left on loan in the summer. Nawrocki joined Hannover 96, looking to prove himself. But it does not look like things are headed anywhere for him in Germany.
As we head into October, Nawrocki has yet to play a single minute of competitive football for Hannover 96. He has not been helped by injury problems, but even then, he should have at least gotten a taste of football by now and has been left on the bench as an unused substitute on multiple occasions.
Defender could be set for Celtic return this January
If the situation does not improve for Nawrocki at Hannover 96, it is pretty likely that he could be recalled by Celtic in January. The Polish defender not getting any time hurts his transfer valuation and the Hoops will be keen to protect that, even if he does not have a future at Parkhead as a first-team player.
One can only hope that Nawrocki finds his footing in Germany eventually. He is a decent talent and has shown that at Celtic, when given a chance.
But for one reason or another, things simply are not working out for him at the moment. Let's hope that changes soon.
