The season is not over yet for Celtic, who still have a Scottish Cup final to play later this month. The summer transfer window is just around the corner though and plans are already being put in place by clubs around Europe. And it looks like the Hoops are on the verge of a major boost without having to move a finger.

Every summer, we see Celtic part ways with players in order to boost their transfer budget. This time around, they appear to be on the verge of a massive windfall from a sell-on clause.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, talks between Liverpool and Jeremie Frimpong’s camp over personal terms have advanced. The player’s always been keen on the move and the Premier League champions are progressing on salary, length of contract, and every detail of the agreement. The deal is close.

Frimpong was signed by Celtic from Manchester City in the summer of 2019. When he arrived, he was viewed as just another project signing who probably was not going to make much of a mark. Just months later, he was already a starter and has not looked back since then.

Frimpong would leave Celtic in early 2021, much sooner than most had expected, to join Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £11 million. There, he has won the Bundesliga with Xabi Alonso's side and established himself as one of the most highly-rated full-backs in European football.

Now, it remains to be seen how things play out for Frimpong. It does look like a move to Liverpool is only a matter of time.

Celtic are believed to hold a significant sell-on clause. So, any Frimpong transfer would be a great benefit to them.
