Daizen Maeda hasn't been at his best this season. He has been struggling for form and has looked like a shadow of his former self. It seems he is the first to admit that though, as he has promised supporters he is going to 'try his best' in the final four games of the season.
He said: "Every time the supporters were helping us.
"But personally, I wasn’t performing well enough to give them back. So the next four games I will try my best to give them back everything."
It seems like we're getting the real Maeda again, with him netting a brace against Falkirk. He looked really good in that game, and fans will be hoping that he can repeat his feat against Hibernian at the weekend.
He seems like he's determined, and he really wants to make the fans happy. Considering he's likely to depart the club in the summer, a final run of form as a send-off is more than welcome.
Maeda will leave in the summer
After years at the club, Maeda will leave Celtic in the summer. He has been an amazing asset and has performed brilliantly in Scotland. Some of his teammates, notably Viljami Sinialo, are desperate for him to stay, but Martin O'Neill admitted that he turned down a new deal last summer when there was interest in him from the Bundesliga.
O'Neill also noted that he doesn't know what is going to happen with him, but it does seem like he'll be taking on a new challenge at the end of the season.
Whether he stays or goes, no one can deny the brilliance he has brought to Glasgow. Winning the Scottish Premiership title again would be the cherry on the cake, and it'll likely be his goals that help us there.
It has been a tricky season, and Maeda has managed to slot in up front amid striker problems. There hasn't been an out-and-out No. 9 at Celtic who has managed to perform well consistently, and although Maeda hasn't really been that consistent either, he has been brilliant when we needed him the most.
If he really can keep it up for the remaining games, that would be a massive boost, especially with injured players like Alistair Johnston also returning. The team could be brilliant once again, but only time will tell what will happen. Before we cash in on him, Maeda can still show why he leaves Celtic a legend.
