Over the course of the summer transfer window, we saw Celtic make a lot of failed offers and miss out on a number of their targets. These increased later on, as it became quite clear that they had left themselves short on options in a number of areas. And it is unsurprising that fans are unhappy and dissatisfied in the aftermath of it.
One of the areas they needed to strengthen this summer is the wing, especially after Nicolas Kuhn left for Como FC. Almost inexplicably, they did not make an addition there until they had lost the Champions League qualifiers.
Ultimately, the club did sign two wingers in Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti. Neither of them are proven names though and it remains to be seen if they are up to the task.
On the other hand, one player they missed out on is Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. Anthony Joseph had reported in late August that Celtic had made a loan offer for the Crystal Palace winger.
Crystal Palace announce transfer after Celtic made late offer
Well, if you had been hoping that Celtic would reignite their interest in Rak-Sakyi this winter, that is no longer on the table. Why? Because he has now completed a loan move to Turkey.
Crystal Palace have announced on their official website that Rak-Sakyi has joined Turkish club Caykur Rizespor on loan. He moves there until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Of course, Rak-Sakyi was not proven at the top level either but he had shown promise. He came through the youth ranks at Chelsea before joining Crystal Palace. So far, most of his football has come in the lower leagues of English football though. It remains to be seen how he does in Turkey. As for Celtic, that's another player they have missed out on.
