Celtic have not made too many impactful moves this summer. Of course, they brought back Kieran Tierney, after a pre-contract had been agreed months back. Benjamin Nygren also looks like a good addition, from what we have seen in pre-season, and could be a consistent contributor to Brendan Rodgers' side moving forward. But other than that, there have not been any other brilliant signings.

The free agent market is one that Celtic should be keeping their eye on if they are not eager to make big-money moves this summer. Josh Brownhill is someone they have been linked with for a while now.

Transfermarkt have given him a transfer valuation of €14 million. But Brownhill, who scored 18 goals and provided six assists in the Championship last season, has announced that he is leaving Burnely this summer with his contract running out, meaning he is available as a free agent.

Someone like Brownhill would be a phenomenal addition to this Celtic team. That kind of output from midfield is something they have missed since Matt O'Riley left. But of course, other clubs want him as well and it looks like an offer is already on his table.

As reported by FourFourTwo, a lengthy contract offer has been tabled by Leicester City to Brownhill. The player is also open to a Premier League move but would entertain offers from clubs in Europe as well.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Brownhill. Of course, there has been a ton of talk about Celtic potentially making a move for him but it could just be the rumour mill that thinks that, with the club not having any real interest in the midfielder.

He does fit what Celtic need right now though. A proven midfielder capable of making a difference. The Hoops have been very open to signing high-profile players as free agents in recent years. So, why not go for someone like Brownhill as well, who is in the middle of his prime?
