Celtic appear to be focused on bringing in fresh faces to the club this summer. Callum Osmand of Fulham, Isaac English of Greenock Morton and Benjamin Nygren of FC Nordsjaelland are all believed to be close to signing with the Hoops. On the other hand, there are plenty of players who could be headed for the exit door as well.
Some of them are high-profile names like Cameron Carter-Vickers, Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn, who are drawing interest from all over Europe. Others are those who have struggled for game time at Celtic under the management of Brendan Rodgers and need a change of scenery.
One player who has been extremely unlucky not to play more often is Maik Nawrocki. Whenever given a chance, he has done well and impressed the supporters. Yet, Rodgers seems to prefer players like Liam Scales and Auston Trusty ahead of the Polish centre-back.
As reported by the Daily Record, Pogon Szczecin have opened talks to sign Nawrocki. The Polish club's sports director, Tan Kesler, has confirmed it. He said:
"We have talked to Maik Nawrocki from Celtic."
24-year-old player in talks to leave Celtic this summer
A lot of fans believe that Nawrocki deserves to get more chances based on his performances in a Celtic shirt. But the issue is, he does not seem to be in Rodgers' plans. With the Northern Irishman set to continue as manager for at least one more season, there is only one thing the Polish defender can do to increase his game time.
That is to leave Celtic and go somewhere where he will be given more opportunities. So, a return to Poland might make sense for him.
That being said, it does feel like Nawrocki can engineer a more high-profile move for himself if he tried. Gustaf Lagerbielke ended up in the Dutch Eredivisie, on loan at FC Twente. That is the level the Polish centre-back should be aiming for himself at the very least.
