Celtic have been given hope of landing one of the strikers they are said to be interested in this summer. The Bhoys are in the market for frontmen this summer, having been left with very few options at the top end of the pitch.

Martin O'Neill will be desperate to start getting deals done after a slow start to the summer that has seen no business done at Parkhead so far. Fans are already growing frustrated with club chiefs amid what is starting to feel like another clumsy summer, but we are still early in the transfer window, and business does tend to be a little slower across the board while the World Cup is on.

Celtic given striker hope

One of the recent links when it comes to Celtic's search for a striker - likely two - is Qarabag frontman Camilo Duran. The Colombian scored 15 and assisted 10 in an impressive season of last, and those goals included five in 10 Champions League games, which is an impressive record indeed.

With Champions League qualification a clear goal for the Hoops, O'Neill will want at least a couple of players with recent Champions League experience. Duran ticks that box, and he could be available for around £2million, which is a very affordable fee for the Bhoys as they prepare for some big sales this summer.

Duran is still only 24 years of age, which will make him an even more attractive prospect, given he still has plenty of development ahead of him.

And a move could be on the table based on what Qarabag manager Gurban Gurbanov has said. Gurbanov was asked about potential exits this summer, and he replied: "It is possible."

It will be interesting to see if Celtic push ahead with their reported Duran interest, but they do need to get a move on with their striker signings sooner rather than later.

The Hoops are down to only Callum Osmand as things stand, although they do have the option of extending Kelechi Iheanacho's contract for another year.

Whether they do or not, it's likely O'Neill will want two striker signings to ensure he has enough depth in the forward line next season. Duran could form part of that, but we have already seen plenty of strikers linked, so he is likely to be one of many options on the table for the Celtic recruitment chiefs.
