It looks like there is finally some movement when it comes to the Celtic managerial situation. For the past few days, it had felt like talks around the matter had completely faded away. But now, it appears that it has picked up some pace again. Not only that, suddenly, an appointment might be close to being completed.
Now, that might divide the opinion of the fans. Many feel that it would be safer to continue with Martin O'Neill as the manager at least until the Scottish League Cup final. The team have won all four of their domestic games since he was brought in as interim manager.
If a new manager is brought in now, there would be a risk that this momentum is derailed. And to be honest, we get that point of view.
At the same time, the other viewpoint is that a new manager should be brought in as soon as possible. He needs to get a feel for the team and understand what needs to be done in the January window. It looks like the club are of that view as well.
'Close to appointing' - Sky Sports finally drop Celtic manager news
As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are close to appointing Columbus Crew boss Wilfried Nancy as their new manager. It's understood talks with the Frenchman are now advanced.
Nancy has been the favourite to get the job for a while now. We get that everybody is not convinced that he is the right man for the job. After all, he has no experience in Europe.
At the same time, there are similarities between him and Ange Postecoglou. That being said, just because the Aussie boss was successful does not mean that he will be as well. So, there is definitely going to be some risk.
