Sometimes, it is important to step back and take in the full picture. Despite their bad run of form, Celtic are still well on course for a treble this season. Brendan Rodgers' side have lost four league games in 2025 already but they are still significantly ahead of the Rangers in the title race. Also, the Hoops are being considered as the heavy favourites to win the Scottish Cup as well.
No matter how this season ends, it would be a mistake for Celtic to overlook the cracks that we have seen underneath the wallpaper in recent weeks though. This looks like a squad that has grown a bit stagnant.
Nicolas Kuhn is someone who should not be feeling stagnant at Celtic Park. It was just last year that he arrived. Yet, some of his recent performances have raised question marks over the German winger's future.
Chris Sutton has clearly not been impressed with what he has seen from Kuhn in recent months. He wrote in his column in the Daily Record:
"You don’t want to single out players but there has been a huge drop off with the German.
It smacks to me as an attitude thing. He looks like a player who thought he’d cracked it and everything would just fall into place for him.
But you need to put in the word and we haven’t seen enough of it lately. Back in December there was talk about Newcastle United considering a bid and it was by no means a stretch of the imagination.
He’d be lucky if Sunderland came in for him on recent form. "
Chris Sutton slams Celtic player for his attitude amid bad run of form
Not too long ago, Kuhn was being linked with a move to Newcastle United. Based on his recent form, would that still be a possible option for him in the summer?
It remains to be seen. The German winger was the club's best performer in the first half of the campaign. There is no doubt about that. But there has certainly been a major dip in his performances since the turn of the year. Especially after the second leg against Bayern Munich, in which he scored against his former team away at the Allianz Arena.
Let's see what the future holds for Kuhn. But it is safe to say that his recent form is not helping his chances at a big summer move.
