Celtic won 2-0 away against Kilmarnock this weekend to return to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, after Aberdeen had taken the lead earlier in the weekend. Goals from Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn were enough to seal the three points, even though Brendan Rodgers' side looked nowhere near their best.

In fact, Kilmarnock had eight more shots than Celtic and the same number as them on target. How often do you seen that in domestic games?

So, it goes without saying that there were some Celtic players who did not put in impressive performances on the day. Chris Sutton has named two.

They are Adam Idah and Arne Engels. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Sutton told Sky Sports Football:

"A difficult afternoon for Adam Idah.

"It’s difficult when you aren’t starting so many games and he hasn’t done.

“Bernardo for Engels, who has struggled on this surface."

Celtic shelled out a big transfer fee to sign Idah on a permanent basis from Norwich City after his successful half-season loan spell. Considering the amount of chances he has gotten since then, the Irishman has done a decent job. But he is not playing like someone who can move ahead of Kyogo in the pecking order anytime soon.

If Idah has to have any hope of doing that, he will need to take his chances in games like this. He was not able to, and eventually Kyogo was brought on as a substitute.

On the other hand, Celtic made Engels their club-record signing when they brought him in from FC Augsburg. The midfielder has shown flashes of quality for sure and while it might not feel like so, his numbers are actually pretty impressive.

That being said, he is not playing with the consistency of someone like Nicolas Kuhn or Matt O'Riley, the one who he was brought in to replace. Hopefully, he will be able to find that with experience.
