Chris Sutton tells Liverpool player to join Celtic
Celtic have been linked with plenty of players from Liverpool recently. Owen Beck was rumoured to be a transfer target for the Hoops before they ended up signing Alex Valle from FC Barcelona on a season-long loan deal. They were also said to have Bobby Clark on their radar. While the midfielder did depart Anfield, it was to join RB Salzburg.
The idea of bringing back Ben Doak on loan was floated as well. But out of all the Liverpool players Celtic have been linked with in recent years, the rumour that has persisted the longest is the one involving Caoimhin Kelleher.
With Joe Hart retiring, the hope was that Celtic would finally sign a long-term goalkeeper in the summer. Kelleher is someone who seemed to tick every box.
But ultimately, he stayed on at Liverpool while Celtic signed Kasper Schmeichel. Kelleher's long-term future at Anfield remains in doubt though and Chris Sutton seems to want to see him end up at Parkhead. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said on It’s All Kicking Off:
"I mean, he could move anywhere, couldn’t he, really?
“He’s the best back-up keeper, I think, I’ve ever seen in the Premier League. Celtic. That won’t happen at Celtic, but because of his Irish roots, Celtic.
“Well, after Kasper [Schmeichel] goes, if he goes, not that I hope he goes at the end of the season, he may stay."

It would not be a surprise if Kelleher ended up leaving Liverpool in the not-too-distant future. Whenever he gets a chance to play for the club, he shines. But those opportunities only seem to come around when Alisson Becker is not available or in cup competitions.
It would be a surprise though if Kelleher did end up joining Celtic. Firstly, the Hoops would have a tough time matching the transfer fee Liverpool are likely to want to part ways with such a talented goalkeeper, even though he is the cover option for them.
Secondly, Kelleher should not have any trouble getting an offer to remain in the Premier League if he did quit Liverpool. Would he consider leaving England to move to the Scottish Premiership in the prime of his career?
