Chris Sutton gives immediate reaction to Celtic draw vs Atalanta
Pragmatism is what many Celtic fans had asked for going into the game against Atalanta, and it is exactly what they got from Brendan Rodgers' side. The Hoops put in a solid defensive display, as they managed a goalless draw away in Italy against Gian Piero Gasperini's side. That might not be a result worth celebrating but is certainly one that could prove invaluable in the club's quest to make it to the next phase of the competition.
Perhaps the intent was quite clear from the start when Rodgers started with Adam Idah instead of Kyogo. The Japanese striker had scored and assisted at the weekend against Aberdeen but the Irishman was more suited to the task at hand.
After losing 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the previous matchday, there were serious question marks over Celtic's defence, especially as they were without Cameron Carter-Vickers once again. Liam Scales and Auston Trusty deserve credit for their display on the day.
Chris Sutton gave his immediate reaction to the result. The former Celtic striker tweeted out:

Nobody enjoys a goalless draw. But Celtic will need to squeeze out results like this on the road, if they are to show any progress at the Champions League level.
This is a valuable point. It is one of the games that they were generally expected to lose. So, going away to Italy and coming home with a draw has to be considered a pretty good result.
Lessons were clearly learnt on that away trip to Borussia Dortmund and that is a positive. Hopefully, this will give the Bhoys a confidence boost. Celtic have not looked at their best since that 7-1 loss at Signal Iduna Park but now, that result is behind us, and hopefully a spring will be back in the Hoops' step.
