Chris Sutton agrees with Scott Brown over Callum Osmand's impressive display for Celtic in his first start for the club on Sunday.
The 20-year-old was started on the left despite being a striker by nature, but he put on a superb first-half performance to help his side thrash Hearts 7-1 at home.
The performance was comfortably Celtic's best of the season so far, and it looked as though Durán and Osmand had a real connection, the type of which we haven't seen within the front line so far this season.
Yang Hyun-jun has previously done well on the left this season, but the connection Osmand had with Durán offered something new.
Durán set up both of Osmand's goals, and the first was the pick of the bunch. Durán played an excellent little through ball to set Osmand through, and the 20-year-old finished brilliantly and confidently in the bottom corner.
It was the sort of clinical finish we haven't seen from the likes of Kasper Hogh and Sebastian Tounekti. The latter, in particular, has regularly been called out over his lack of final product on the left, and it's part of the reason why Osmand, who has been dealing with an injury issue for much of the season, felt like such a breath of fresh air.
Former Celtic striker Sutton posted on X after the game: "A magnificent seven for Celtic against a soft Hearts team. Callum Osmand’s first goal Tounekti would never have scored. Great positive run in behind. Hearts kamikaze as weak and naive a defensive display from them as I’ve ever seen. Celtic’s Jekyll and Hyde season goes on… "
Interestingly, former Hoops midfielder Brown said something similar on Sky Sports' studio coverage. He said: "Durán through the middle is so good. Osmand out on the left has done more in 45 minutes than Tounekti has done in his time at the club."
Osmand was brought off at half-time to make sure he isn't rushed into playing too many minutes on the back of his recent recovery from an extended layoff.
The game was already won by that point, so it made sense for Martin O'Neill to make the change to give Jota some extra game time, with the winger looking to build up match fitness of his own.
But it was a fine display for Osmand, who could well start against Celta Vigo on Thursday night after this display.
