Nicolas Kuhn has been the shining light for Celtic this season and established himself as the club's talisman following Matt O'Riley's summer exit. As a result, fans were left worried when Brendan Rodgers had to make a late change and the German winger did not play against Dundee United even though he had originally been named In the starting XI.
Naturally, there were fears that Kuhn had picked up an injury leading up to the game. It goes without saying that Celtic cannot afford that, heading into some of their most important games of the season over the coming weeks. The German has been the club's most consistent performer in recent times, contributing with both goals and assists while also proving himself to be a big-game player.
Unfortunately, it looks like Kuhn did indeed pick up an issue ahead of the Dundee United game. And it remains to be seen how long it will keep him out for.
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, while speaking on the club’s official TV channel, Peter Grant addressed the moment which was caught on camera, showing Kuhn clutching his thigh. He said:
"It looks as if it’s his right thigh.
“You can’t take any chances on either thigh or the hamstrings.
“You can’t run it off, if it’s a tear he could miss up to six weeks, so he has made the right decision.
“He’s made the correct decision, the mature decision, because as soon as you feel that, it’s the biggest muscle.
“So it takes the longest to heal."
Celtic: Worrying news about why Nicolas Kuhn was dropped
One can only hope that Kuhn has avoided any serious issue and the change was precautionary. We are expected to find out more about the matter in the near future.
In the place of Kuhn, it was Yang Hyun-jun who started on the right flank. The South Korean winger was given 62 minutes on the pitch before he was replaced by Reo Hatate.
It was Hatate who put the game to bed by scoring Celtic's second. It ended 2-0 in favour of the Hoops. The result leaves them 16 points clear of the Rangers, although the Ibrox side do have a game in hand.
