Celtic could be busier than usual when it comes to the winter transfer window. That is certainly an interesting possibility when you consider how strong their current position is. They are 14 points ahead of the Rangers in the Premiership, have already won the Scottish League Cup and also have a genuine chance of making it to the next phase of the Champions League.

That has not stopped Celtic from being linked with a long list of players though. And one of them is Kieran Tierney.

It is believed that Arsenal have passed on the chance to extend Tierney's by another twelve months. That means that he will become a free agent in the summer and unsurprisingly, he has once again been linked with a return to Celtic.

In the past, such suggestions have seemed like wishful thinking at best. But now, it feels like there is a genuine chance that we could see Tierney in a Celtic jersey again.

Celtic working on January pre-contract agreement

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are working on a deal to sign Tierney on a pre-contract deal in January. An agreement could be reached to let the Scottish international move on next month itself, but the Hoops could wait until the summer and sign their former left-back on a free transfer.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Tierney. But it does not seem like he will be at Arsenal for much longer. Whether that is a few more weeks, or months, remains to be seen.

It is curious that Greg Taylor has not been handed a contract extension yet. On the other hand, there are other positions where Celtic could look to strengthen as well. It is believed that bringing in a new winger is a priority for them in January.
