One cannot overlook the downturn in form in recent months though. Sainz had made a remarkable start to the season but has not been able to find the back of the net since late November. The Spaniard has faced some other issues as well, which might have had a negative impact on his performances on the pitch.
The talent is clearly there though and it should come as no surprise that Celtic are now being linked with a player like him. It remains to be seen if they do end up making a serious offer for the Spaniard or not.
