Celtic's recent recruitment has actually been pretty good. Arne Engels, Luke McCowan, Alex Valle and Auston Trusty are all looking like solid additions. Of course, we already knew what to expect from Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo after their successful loan spells at Parkhead. Kasper Schmeichel is proving to be an elite replacement for Joe Hart as well.
On the other hand, there are others who are proving themselves elsewhere. Mathias Kvistgaarden is someone Celtic have been linked with for over a year and it is believed that they have made contact in the past, looking to sign him.
And while the club signed Idah for a significant transfer fee in the summer, and also have Kyogo, it looks like they have not dropped their interest in the Danish forward. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Celtic have had a representative at a handful of Brondby matches this season with Kvistgaarden the main man being watched.
Kvistgaarden is in the form of his life right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 13 goals and provided 5 assists in 20 appearances.
Celtic still want long-term €10 million transfer target
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Kvistgaarden. If Celtic do end up signing him, it would be interesting how they manage all their options.
Kyogo is the number one. There is no doubt about that. There is a lot that the Japanese forward brings to the game, not just goals. And in Idah, Celtic have a very capable backup option as well. in this scenario, do the club even need someone like Kvistgaarden?
Well, they might, if Kyogo did end up leaving. One cannot forget that the Japanese forward was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City late in the summer transfer window as the replacement for Julian Alvarez. Does that interest still exist?
