It looks like the Celtic board are intent on sticking with Wilfried Nancy, despite the results since his arrival. He has lost five out of his seven games in charge, and there has not been one standout performance. But it feels like those in the boardroom are not willing to accept that they got the appointment completely wrong.
If that is indeed the case then the least they can do is back him in the January transfer window, in hopes that it unlocks the system that he has been trying, and failing, to implement at Celtic. It looks like the first signing of the winter is pretty close, though it is one that will divide the opinion of the fans.
As reported by Mike McGrath, Bournemouth sources are expecting a loan move for Julian Araujo to Celtic, with the clubs in talks over the Mexican international full-back. The former Barcelona player is in line for a move for the season.
Of course, Araujo can play that wing-back role in Nancy's system. That being said, there are a lot of question marks around signing him as well.
Celtic very close to making first signing of January
Firstly, there is no doubt that Araujo has potential. He was on the books at Barcelona a little over a year ago. He also played a decent bit of La Liga football on loan at Las Palmas.
That being said, he has made only one appearance so far this season. So, one cannot expect him to be up to match speed.
If the plan is to bring him in quickly and put him right into the match against the Rangers at the weekend, that might not be a great idea. But let's see what the club plan to do. It is not like they are listening to the support.
