Over the course of football history, only a select few players have worn the jersey of both Celtic and Rangers. One would imagine that most Hoops fans hope that it stays that way as well. Of course, that does not stop speculation from cropping up time to time. It was earlier in the summer that Greg Taylor was linked with a switch to Ibrox. Ultimately, although he did depart Parkhead as a free agent, the left-back ended up joining PAOK in Greece.
Now, a former Rangers player has been linked with a move to Celtic out of nowhere. Just like Taylor, he is available as a free agent this summer.
The player we are talking about is Ianis Hagi. He left Ibrox recently and is yet to find a new club for himself.
It appears that Romanian FA technical director Mihai Stoichita would like to see Hagi turn up for Celtic. As reported by the Glasgow Times, he said about the former Rangers ace:
"I would be happy to see Ianis Hagi at Celtic.
"Let him play for them and beat Rangers."
Celtic urged to sign former Rangers player for free
Well, let's just say that if we were Stoichita, we would not be raising our hopes anytime soon. The chances of Celtic making a move for Hagi this summer, even though he is available as a free agent, are slim to none. And it is much closer to the latter than the former.
Hagi did show some glimpses of quality early on in his time at Ibrox. And just like every other Rangers player, he was tipped to develop into the best player in Scottish football. It is safe to say that the Romanian international feel far short of those expectations.
Right now, he finds himself as a free agent. While he is an effective player, he has had his fair share of fitness issues over the years. Do not expect to see him in a Celtic jersey, ever.
