Celtic have once again been told to pay or go away by a Spanish club, which is becoming a familiar theme this summer. The Bhoys are closing in on their second signing of the summer, with Kasper Hogh set to sign from Bodo/Glimt on a deal worth £11million plus add-ons.
The Bhoys have had to pay big to take care of their attack, with their only two signings so far being strikers, totalling a spending of at least £16.5million between them,
In the meantime, the search revolves around a goalkeeper, winger and a midfielder, with Celtic still having plenty of work to do in the summer window. But just like the rest of the summer, the Bhoys are not having much luck.
Las Palmas send familiar message to Celtic
Celtic have already had trouble signing winger Haissem Hassan this summer. The Bhoys have had one offer rejected and have not yet returned with another, with Real Oviedo reportedly looking for £10.2million, which is the full value of his release clause.
And it's the same story with their reported pursuit of Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas. The keeper is one of the few who have been pursuing this summer, and a starting goalkeeper is required following the retirement of Kasper Schmeichel.
According to reports in Spain, Las Palmas are looking for £8.5million but they are willing to drop that price to around £6million if they receive a concrete offer. But they will not drop the price any more than that.
Celtic are said to have proposed an offer of £4.7million, although they have not made a formal bid so far. If Celtic want Horkas, they are going to up that offer by £1.3million, and it seems that, until they do, there will be no deal for Horkas.
That kind of stance is becoming a familiar theme for the Bhoys, and it only points to a questionable summer recruitment strategy that has seen them come into the window ill-prepared. Celtic should have know the prices of almost all of their targets before coming into the window, and indeed whether they were affordable.
