It is safe to say that Celtic have not signed players from other clubs on a consistent basis in recent times, instead focusing on finding talent from foreign leagues. That does not mean that there are no top level talents in the Scottish Premiership though. Far from it. And perhaps one of them is putting in performances that are worth a look from the defending champions in the near future.
Celtic's midfield is a position that could undergo some changes in the near future. Reo Hatate's time at the club might come to an end soon as he looks primed for an exit at some point, having already done everything possible in Glasgow.
One has to wonder what the future holds for players like Paulo Bernardo and Arne Engels as well. Neither of them has gotten enough chances lately and might look for the exit door if things do not change.
So, Celtic might need to look to add to their midfield department soon, both in terms of starters and depth. And they might have an answer already playing his football in Scotland.
Celtic tipped to sign Scottish midfielder in top form
67 Hail Hail recently put out a list of Scottish Premiership players who should be on Celtic's radar. One of those is David Watson of Kilmarnock.
It is easy to forget that Watson is just 20 years of age. He has already made more than 100 appearances for Kilmarnock. And now, it looks like he is taking the next step in his career.
Watson seems to have taken his game up a level this season. In 7 Premiership appearances, he has scored 3 goals and provided an assist. In the process, he has also established himself as a nailed-on starter. Would he be the same for Celtic? Probably not. But he could help the team for sure.
