With only a couple of weeks left in the winter transfer window, Celtic have left themselves a lot of work to do, like they always seem to do. Now, it remains to be seen whether they are able to make the necessary additions in several positions across the pitch, within this short span of time. Additions are needed at striker urgently, and the club could do with another centre-back as well.
The Hoops will also need to bring in a new winger as well. Let's see if they are capable of doing that or not.
There are quite a few options out there who could be capable of doing a job for Celtic at this point in time. But they will also need to show the right amount of ambition and urgency to get a deal done in time.
Over the last few days, quite a few wingers have been linked with a move to Celtic. One of them is Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, although there is believed to be quite a bit of difference between what they are offering for the Englishman, and what Crystal Palace expect to part ways with him in this winter window.
Celtic tipped to make move for former Manchester United player for free
As reported by The Herald, Pat Nevin has tipped Celtic to make a potential move for Jesse Lingard on Boyle Sports:
"Now, Celtic have a small history of taking players from the K League and from the J League as well, and doing well. So, they wouldn't think that that league is so far below the Scottish league.
"They wouldn't think that at all because they have used players, and at the moment they've got a couple of them. But how many good seasons has Jesse had where he's been free of injury, free of difficulties? There was one cracker of a season on loan at West Ham, but they've been rare.
"A lot of the seasons have been spent on the bench, not scoring many goals at all. And when you come in as a high-profile player, you're going to cost quite a few quid in the wage bracket. It's quite a big risk, I have to say.
"But, you know, they might consider it, maybe for half of the season, until they get Jota back, maybe that works. But I think people know it's a risk."
Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up considering a move for Lingard in this ongoing winter window. He is someone who is proven at a high level and on top of his game, he could certainly do a job for the Hoops.
That being said, he has not been playing in a top European league in recent times. He did do well while in South Korea though and might still have quite a bit to offer. If brought in on a short-term deal, this might not be the worse idea in the world if you are Celtic. He is a free agent, in search of a team at this point in time.
