Celtic will need to sign a top striker sooner or later. Johnny Kenny has done decently well since the arrival of Martin O'Neill but it does not feel like he is good enough to lead the line for the Hoops already. On the other hand, Kelechi Iheanacho is recovering from an injury and is close to a return, while Callum Osmand will be out for months, having undergone surgery

Daizen Maeda can play as a striker as well, and has done so to great success in the past. But he is expected to depart the club in January, having seen a summer move get blocked.

So, it would be smart on the part of Celtic to go out and sign a striker soon, especially with Wilfried Nancy expected to take charge of the club as the new permanent manager soon. And they have been linked with a striker who thrived under his watch at Columbus Crew.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, while speaking to The Herald, Steven Caldwell suggested Cucho Hernandez as an option for Celtic with Nancy coming in as the new manager. He said:

"Cucho Hernandez, the Colombian forward, who played with Wilfred at Columbus is at Real Betis now and he could play in the SPFL easily. He’s a top player."

There is no doubt that Hernandez is a very good striker. He is a full international for the Colombian national team. Other than that, he is also a regular for Real Betis.

He was incredible while working with Nancy at Columbus Crew. In 78 games working together, he scored 49 goals and provided 24 assists as well.

That is brilliant output. His record at Real Betis is not great but solid, scoring 11 times in 32 games. But there would be a few stumbling blocks to any potential move to sign Hernandez.

Firstly, he might not want to make a move to the Scottish league. And even if he does, the fee could be a major problem.
