Celtic are looking to bring in reinforcements in a number of positions across the pitch. Like pretty much every summer, they are being linked with youngsters, who will be project signings that might or might not work out for the Hoops. But at the same time, in recent years, the club have shown an openness to bring in Premier League veterans, especially if available as free agents.
Aaron Mooy and Kasper Schmeichel were brought in as free agents. Joe Hart was signed from Tottenham Hotspur. And Jeffrey Schlupp arrived on loan from Crystal Palace.
The midfield is one position that Celtic will be looking to strengthen this summer. Could they look to bring in a former Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford and Manchester United player, who also had a stint at Inter Milan?
Of course, it is not tough to figure out who we are talking about. In a recent article about free agent midfielders Celtic and Rangers can sign this summer, Glasgow World named Christian Eriksen as one of the options.
Celtic tipped to sign Premier League legend for free
Eriksen spent the past three seasons playing for Manchester United and quietly made over 100 appearances for the club. He has also played more than 300 times for Tottenham Hotspur and is considered a club legend there.
Could Celtic go out and sign Eriksen as a free agent this summer? It has already been confirmed that he will leave Manchester United once his deal runs out at the end of this month.
Even last season, Eriksen played 35 times for Man Utd and scored 5 goals. That goes on to show that he can still deliver at a high level. And signing him might be a good move on the part of Celtic. He has the experience of top-level football and would bring a lot, not just on the pitch but off it as well.
