Celtic have already made quite a few additions to their squad this summer but one position where they still need to improve is their midfield. The Hoops do have some quality options in the middle of the park but there is a belief that they are missing a proper defensive midfielder right now, which has prevented them from controlling big games.

We have seen Celtic being linked with a few defensive midfielders in recent times. Names like Kalidou Sidibe, Elvis Rexhbecaj and a few others. Now, it looks like another one has been added to that list.

It is a defensive midfielder currently on the books at Liverpool. He has struggled for consistent game time though and at 22 years of age, it might be time for a change of scenery. Could Celtic Park be his next destination?

As reported by SportsBoom (via The Scotsman), Celtic have taken an interest in Tyler Morton. It is understood that the Liverpool defensive midfielder does not have a long-term future under Arne Slot at Anfield.

Morton has spent a couple of seasons out on loan, playing regular football at both Hull City and Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. But chances have been hard to come by at Liverpool and understandably so. He has made 14 senior appearances for the Premier League champions.

Morton played his part in England's recent U21 EURO win. And now, it might be the perfect time for the 22-year-old to take the next step in his career by leaving Liverpool in search of first-team opportunities.

Celtic might have a tough contest on their hands for the signature of Morton though. It has been claimed that clubs like West Ham United, Ajax, SC Braga and Club Brugge are monitoring the Liverpool midfielder's situation.
