It is safe to say that Celtic have a lot of areas in need of strengthening at this point in time. That was pretty clear from their display against Hearts in Wilfried Nancy's debut. Now, it is unfair to expect a manager to implement his ideas within days of his arrival. That being said, Martin O'Neill was getting results out of this team within a similar timeframe. So, the Frenchman will be expected to do the same.

Nancy must be given some time and patience for sure. The one game in the immediate future that he absolutely must win is the Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren.

Other than that, a lot of fans might be open to the idea of waiting until the January transfer window to see what kind of players are brought in before making any judgment on Nancy as a manager. There is a recognition that this squad is not good enough, even if O'Neill might have succeeded in getting a tune out of it in his brief interim spell following Brendan Rodgers' resignation.

Let's hope that Nancy is backed in the winter transfer window. And that might mean signing some players from the MLS, a league that he knows well from his time at Toronto FC and Columbus Crew.

Glasgow World recently came up with a list of MLS players Nancy could bring to Celtic. One of the names on the list is that of Hugo Cuypers.

Cuypers currently plays for Chicago Fire. He has scored 28 goals in 62 games for them. Before that, he scored 51 times in 90 matches for Belgian side Gent. So, he knows his way to the back of the net for sure.

At 28 years of age, Cuypers should be in the middle of his prime as well. So, it might be a smart move on the part of Celtic to sign him this January. He has a year left on his contract at Chicago Fire.
