It is no secret that Celtic left themselves short of options up top this summer. They failed to bring in their top target, Kasper Dolberg, and ultimately had to settle for Kelechi Iheanacho, who was available as a free agent after the transfer window closed. The fans will be hoping that the Nigerian international is able to rediscover his best form after reuniting with Brendan Rodgers.
Then again, one has to admit that there is a good chance that that won't happen. In that case, Celtic must go out and try to sign a quality striker in the January transfer window.
Quite a few names have already been linked with them. And one can only hope that they get someone who is in form right now.
67 Hail Hail recently listed four strikers who should be on Celtic's January 2026 transfer window wishlist. Haji Wright of Coventry City is one of the names on there.
Celtic tipped to sign American striker in top form this January
Celtic already have a strong American presence in the team with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty. Could they be about to add a third name to that list?
Wright started his career at New York Cosmos and he has played all around Europe since then. He has had spells in Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, Denmark and is currently in England with Coventry City.
Also, Wright has been a consistent goalscorer for a few years now. In his first two season, he scored a combined 31 goals for Coventry City. This season, he already has five in six games. Before coming to England, he had 31 goals in two seasons in Turkey with Antalyaspor. He has also scored five times for the American national team.
Of course, it would take a decent transfer fee to sign someone with four goals in four Championship games so far this season. That being said, Celtic do need to make a statement.
