Following a poor summer transfer window, Celtic left Brendan Rodgers short of quality options in a number of positions across the pitch. Midfield is somewhere they have a lot of talent but for one reason or another, it is not clicking at the moment. Arne Engels has failed to meet expectations since his record move to Parkhead while the likes of Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate are going through a bad patch of form. Benjamin Nygren has been decent but Paulo Bernardo has barely gotten chances.

One also has to wonder if players like Hatate, Engels and Bernardo are close to leaving or not, for a variety of reasons. If that is the case, they need to bring in replacements quickly. And a midfielder from Ajax has been suggested as a perfect solution to their problems in the middle of the park.

FootballTransfers have suggested Kim Fitz-Jim as the solution to a major headache for Rodgers. He is said to be unsettled at Ajax right now as chances have been rare under John Heitinga.

He was expected to leave the club on loan in the summer but it did not happen. Could an exit take place in January, whether it be permanent or a temporary deal?

Fitz-Jim was one of the best midfielders in the Eredivisie not too long ago. He excelled in dribbling from the middle of the park as well as using his intelligent pressing to cause transitions.

So, someone like him could be a decent addition in the middle of the park for Celtic. He can play in central midfield as well as a defensive midfielder.

That is a role Celtic have not been able to fill for quite some time now. Is the Ajax man the answer to their long-term problems?
