Celtic could look to sign a winger this summer with Daizen Maeda moving to a central role on a long-term basis. Even last winter, despite bringing back Jota, another wide player had appeared to be on the Hoops' radar. The belief is that they tried to sign Sondre Orjeseater from Sarpsborg 08 but failed to get a deal over the line.
Lately, they have also been linked with a move for Michel-Ange Balikwisha. The Belgian talent, currently playing at Royal Antwerp, has himself confirmed that Celtic were interested in him last summer. It remains to be seen if they pursue his signature once again.
CeltsAreHere recently did a scouting article on players currently in La Liga as well as the Spanish second division. One name they have suggested that Celtic should try to sign is Diego Lopez of Valencia.
The 22-year-old is an Olympic Gold medalist. He has also emerged as a key player for Valencia this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists. Thus, if Celtic are able to sign him, it would be considered as a major coup for the Hoops.
Celtic tipped to sign €15m-rated Valencia winger
Lopez has the ability to play on both flanks. If the situation calls for it, he can play as a striker as well. Of course, that kind of versatility is a bonus for any team.
Celtic might have a tough time bringing him to Scotland, even if they try to sign Lopez. He is playing top level football in Spain right now and has a contract with Valencia that is believed to run until the summer of 2027.
If there is a chance to get a deal done though, Celtic should definitely consider making it happen. It could take a transfer fee in the region of €15 million to convince Valencia to part ways.
