The winter transfer window deadline day is upon us. For the last several days, Celtic fans have been waiting for the club to bring in some fresh faces following the departure of important players and the general need to strengthen in a few areas. Unfortunately, the Hoops have not done that despite being linked with a long list of names and it is uncertain whether they will be able to get any deals over the line in time.
On the other hand, it looks like there are still players who could be heading for the exit door. Daniel Cummings is one of them.
West Ham United are looking to sign him in this transfer window. Although, Cummings is certain to end up in London eventually, as it is believed that he has agreed a pre-contract with the Premier League club already.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic have rejected West Ham United’s opening bid for Cummings. Talks are ongoing with the Premier League club considering an improved offer.
Celtic in talks with Premier League club over deadline day deal
Cummings has been a standout performer for the Celtic B Team in recent times and has been scoring goals consistently at the youth and developmental levels. But unfortunately, a ton of chances have not been handed to him at the first-team level.
So, it is understandable why he might have chosen to leave Celtic early on in his career. Many others before him have done the same. Names like Ben Doak, Rocco Vata and plenty of others come to mind immediately in this regard.
It was only recently that Cummings was handed his debut for Celtic, appearing in the game against Aston Villa. Unfortunately, it looks like that could end up being his last appearance for the Hoops as well.
