Since the return of Brendan Rodgers as manager of the club, many Celtic fans have wondered how much say he has when it comes to transfers. When it comes to some signings, it feels like he has given up from the very beginning and it is hard to imagine that the manager would have been the one pushing for those moves.
In such instances, one can only blame the recruitment team for not identifying players that fit the manager's system. And it looks like this summer, they might have made another such addition, although on this occasion, it is only a loan deal.
Going into the summer, most felt that Celtic needed to bring in a centre-back. Auston Trusty had failed to convince that he is ready to be a starter for the Hoops while Liam Scales has never really become a fan favourite.
But the club did not go all out on another centre-back. Instead, they brought in Jahmai Simpson-Pusey from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal. How much say did Rodgers have when it came to this signing? We do not know. What we do know is that the player has not played a single minute of football so far and is not even making the bench on most days.
Celtic summer signing drops cryptic message amid struggles
Amid all this, Simpson-Pusey appeared to drop a cryptic message on his social media. His profile picture on Instagram now reads:
"Delays teach patience, which prepares you for blessings."
Well, that is a good quote for sure. And one that might fit his situation because the youngster has to be questioning the decision to join Celtic already. He simply does not seem to be in the manager's plans.
Let's see what the future holds for him. But we would not be surprised if this turns out to be a loan move that is cut short.
