Deadline day was a nightmare for Celtic. They started it hoping to sign Kasper Dolberg from Anderlecht and then Ajax swooped in at the last minute, causing talks to fall apart. On the other hand, the Hoops had sanctioned Adam Idah's move to Swansea City, leaving their options paper-thin up top. Naturally, there was a scramble late on to make signings.

It would be an understatement to say that fans were disappointed with how the striker situation was handled. Ultimately, Kelechi Iheanacho was signed as a free agent. A consolation signing, if that. But amidst all this transfer drama, many appeared to have missed another blow that the Hoops suffered on the day.

Oh Hyeon-gyu had left Celtic just last summer. But it would be safe to say that he has enhanced his reputation since then. And on deadline day, it looked like Oh Hyeon-gyu was on the verge of making a move to the Bundesliga in a £24 million deal.

Of course, the first thing Celtic fans wondered was where it had gone wrong for Oh at Parkhead and why he had not performed at that level for the Hoops. Secondly, there was clearly going to be a significant sell-on clause at play. But unfortunately, the transfer ended up collapsing.

As reported by The Chosun Daily, the medical test was cited as the surface reason. But behind-the-scenes reports suggest the negotiations collapsed due to a transfer fee dispute.

Oh did not end up getting his move to the Bundesliga. And Celtic did not end up getting their sell-on fee that the club would have been hoping for.

Many would argue though that sell-on fees are no good if they are not reinvested into the squad. And the Hoops struggled to do that this summer.
