Most of the focus in recent days has been on Celtic potentially adding to their ranks up top and on the flanks. Of course, both are areas in need of urgent strengthening. That being said, the Hoops are light on options in several other places as well. So, one would hope that they are not overlooked, with a little over a week left in the summer transfer window.

One area of need that many seem to be overlooking at the moment is left-back. Yes, Kieran Tierney was signed as a free agent and will be the starter there. But he has a long injury history and needs a reliable backup option in that position.

Celtic did bring in Hayato Inamura this summer, who can play at left-back. But it does not feel like Brendan Rodgers views him as someone who is ready to contribute to the first-team at this point in time.

So, Celtic might need to add another option in that area of the pitch. And it looks like they have opened talks to sign a Uruguayan left-back.

This is someone whose name has not done the rounds of the rumour mill this summer when it comes to the Hoops. As reported by Cesar Luis Merlo, Celtic have opened negotiations and want to sign Marcelo Saracchi.

Sarachhi is currently on the books at Boca Juniors. But he is pretty much the backup option there, which should suit Celtic.

The last time Celtic signed a left-back from the Argentine league, it did not quite go according to plan. Of course, we are talking about Alexandro Bernabei. But since leaving, he has proven himself as a top talent and perhaps, he deserved a bit more patience and some more opportunities. Now, let's see if they can sign Saracchi.
