One Celtic star is refusing to commit to the club next season amid tentative transfer links this summer. The Bhoys are in the midst of what should be a busy summer, but we are yet to see any transfer action at Parkhead, either in or out.

Martin O'Neill wants new signings aplenty to ensure his side have the best possible chance of starting the season well. The veteran boss came in to save the day last season, but another sluggish start is certainly not desired, especially with the Champions League qualifiers coming early in the season, as ever.

The extra challenge for Celtic this summer is dealing with potential exits, and there are likely to be some significant ones, including Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and, potentially, Benjamin Nygren.

Nygren refuses to rule out move

Nygren is one of the players who has been linked with a big-money exit after scoring 15 and providing five assists in the Premiership last season. But it's true the World Cup hasn't done him many favours, with Nygren starting for Sweden and quickly losing his starting place, which he never got back before their elimination.

Still, the winger is not ruling out a move, admitting he has 'dreams', which appear to be beyond what he can achieve at Celtic. He told Göteborgs-Posten: "We’ll see.

“I have my dreams and goals that I fight for every day and that I have done since I was young. I still have them, and that is to play at the highest possible level. But when that happens, I can’t answer right now.”

The 24-year-old is under contract at Celtic until 2029, and the club also have an option to extend by a further year. That gives the club full control over his future, and it means any sale is likely going to have to be an expensive one this summer, especially with the others who are leaving.

Back in March, O'Neill praised Nygren's goal-scoring ability after he scored against Aberdeen, saying: "He’s doing something that is the most difficult thing in the game – to score goals. And he’s popped up again with what proved to be the winning goal."

Goal-scoring wingers are not easy to come by, so Celtic won't want to lose Nygren, especially with the concern of losing Maeda. Nygren has been linked with a move a little, but it does feel as though he needs another productive season to get a big move.
