Celtic signing named that depends on Champions League qualification

It looks like one Celtic transfer signing this summer depends on the club making the UEFA Champions League.

Celtic's activity, or lack of it, this summer, has left a large portion of the support unhappy. It had all started so well. Additions like Kieran Tierney, Benjamin Nygren and more were made early in the window. It looked like the Ange Postecoglou era was back and the club were intent on making a positive impression on Brendan Rodgers, who was entering the final 12 months of his contract.

It is very clear that that was not the case at all. The past several weeks are proof of that. The only signing that has been made recently is the loan addition of 19-year-old Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.

Fans wanted the club to make additions before the Champions League qualifiers. On the contrary, it looks like the result of that tie will determine the moves that end up happening.

It appears that a potential move for Michel-Ange Balikwisha depends on that. Phil Mac Giolla Bhain wrote on his website:

"I was informed this week that one of the players awaiting whether or not Celtic make it to the Champions League is Michel-Ange Balikwisha, currently at Royal Antwerp."

Balikwisha is someone who has been linked with a move to Celtic going back to last summer. A move for him should have gotten over the line a long time back. But it has not.

It has been weeks since Celtic sanctioned the departure of Nicolas Kuhn, as he joined Como FC in a €19 million transfer. The least that the fans would have expected was for a proper replacement for him to be brought in.

But somehow, Celtic are yet to sign a winger this summer. Yes, they are not even meeting the minimum expectations at this point in time. Let's just say that things need to change as soon as possible.

Of course, this is nothing new for the club. Even last summer, it took until deadline day for them to complete the signings of Luke McCowan, Arne Engels and Auston Trusty.
