Celtic are flying high at the moment but of course, there is always the opportunity to improve further. If there is one area in the squad that is still a bit up in the air, it is left-back. Greg Taylor deserves a ton of credit for the job he has done over the years but there has always been the feeling that the club should bring in someone to challenge him for the starting spot.
Celtic did add to their left-back ranks this summer by signing Alex Valle on loan from FC Barcelona. The loanee has gotten some playing time for sure but overall, Taylor still seems to be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Also, Valle's long-term future at Celtic Park is in doubt. There have even been some suggestions that Barcelona could try to end his loan spell early although the accuracy of those rumours remains in doubt.
There is one accomplished left-back who could soon be available as a free agent though. And it might not be a bad idea for Celtic to see if pulling off a move is possible.
Celtic must sign Tottenham Hotspur player for free
We are talking about Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham Hotspur. He has not played a single minute for Ange Postecoglou's side this season and made the bench only once.
In the past, he has had high-profile and underwhelming loan spells at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. At one point, he was a Real Madrid player as well.
But Reguilon's best football came at Sevilla, who he helped guide to a Europa League triumph and his early days at Tottenham Hotspur. There is certainly a player there and perhaps a move to Celtic could help rejuvenate his career.
Reguilon is just 27 years of age and should have plenty of football left in the tank. His current deal is believed to run out next summer.
