Celtic's late summer loan signing Shim Mheuka has been speaking about the decision he made to join the club. The Chelsea talent was snapped up by the Bhoys shortly before the UEFA deadline, although he was not included in the Europa League squad in any case.
Mheuka has started well, coming off the bench to make two cameo appearances so far and looking sharp. He was unlucky to see a goal disallowed for offside in the win over St Mirren over the weekend, and he has created a few good chances overall.
The 18-year-old knows he is unlikely to be a starter at Celtic, given Kasper Hogh, Camilo Duran and Callum Osmand are all likely ahead of him, but that doesn't mean he won't have opportunities, and it doesn't mean he can't change that pecking order with some impressive displays.
The forward also looks as though he has the pace to slot in out wide if needed, and given the competition in his squad, O'Neill will be looking at alternative ways to use the youngster.
In the meantime, Mheuka has been speaking about what led him to join the club, given he did have to agree to the loan move, even with Chelsea agreeing on terms.
"I’ve been part of the England squads with Mikey (Moore) so I watched his games from last year," said the youngster. "He’s a good friend of mine so I spoke to him before I came here and he told me it’s a beautiful city and I’d really enjoy it.
"It’s more about what’s best for me than what Mikey has done and what was the best next step in my development but it helped that Mikey is a good friend and did really well. He told me I was on the wrong side of Glasgow but I told him, no I’m on the right side of the city!
Moore had an impressive loan spell with Rangers last season, and he was wanted back at Ibrox by many Gers fans, but he ultimately joined German second division side Koln on loan for this season.
