Things keep getting worse for Celtic. Cameron Carter-Vickers is the latest player to pick up a long-term issue which will keep him sidelined for the foreseeable future. He suffered an Achilles injury in the game against Sturm Graz last night. And it is believed that the American could be out for as many as five months. That means we might not see him on the pitch until March of next year, if that,
It goes without saying that that is a problem for Celtic. Carter-Vickers is their defensive leader at the back. On top of that, Auston Trusty has had his own injury problems this season and there are question marks about how suited he is to be a regular starter for the Hoops.
Last season, we did see the combination of Liam Scales and Trusty struggle. So, it would be a good idea for Celtic to try and bring in a centre-back, even if on loan until the end of the season.
A Chelsea player might be the perfect fit for the role. It is none other than Axel Disasi, who is completely out of Enzo Maresca's plans at the moment and is not even training with the first-team squad.
Celtic must sign Chelsea defender after Cameron Carter-Vickers injury
Disasi might not be in Maresca's plans, but he is a quality defender. He was a regular for Chelsea when Mauricio Pochettino was their manager. Also, he has appeared for the French national team on five occasions.
One would imagine that Chelsea would have a tough time finding a permanent home for Disasi in the winter. They could not get it done in the summer and since then, he has been without competitive football for half-a-season.
So, Chelsea might be open to the idea of loan deals. If that is the case, Celtic should try to bring him to Parkhead.
Firstly, Disasi is a solid centre-back who is also capable of playing on the right. On top of that, he is a leader, which is another thing Celtic will be missing in the absence of Carter-Vickers.
