Celtic should see the results as a warning
While many will be amused by the results, they are a warning for Celtic, who play LASK in their Champions League qualifiers on August 18 and 25.
Celtic didn't exactly look sharp during their opening league game against Dundee, and while it's not how football works, do we think the Bhoys would currently blast Hearts and beat Rangers comfortably? There's no guaranteeing Celtic would have better luck against those teams if they were to play them right now, even if they are likely a better side.
Poor business and the promise of big squad changes mean this Celtic side is nowhere near ready, and that doesn't change by the time they face Austrian champions LASK, it could become the Hoops who are the butt of the jokes.
Celtic need to see the results as a warning, although Martin O'Neill won't need the warning. He has spoken repeatedly about needing to strengthen before the play-offs, well aware of the task his side face in qualifying for UEFA's premier competition.
