It has become pretty much impossible to predict the direction that Celtic's search for a new manager will take. Almost every day, it feels like a new name is added to the list of potential candidates for the role, or somebody drops out completely. On some days, it might even be both, which was the case yesterday.

One former Celtic player made it very clear that he is not interested in a return to Parkhead at this moment. That is none other than Craig Bellamy.

On the other hand, it looks like the club have their eyes set on another former player as a potential candidate for the vacant role at Parkhead. And that is despite his poor run of form recently.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Efrain Juarez is one of the names suggested to the board. The club chiefs are setting up initial Zoom call interviews for the coming days.

Juarez had a short and not too particularly impressive run as a player at Celtic. But there is a connection there for sure.

That being said, one has to point out that his most recent run has not been great. In fact, there are even some suggestions in Mexico that he could be about to be sacked in the near future.

Is that the type of manager that Celtic want in the hot seat, especially with how tough things are expected to be for the next permanent boss? To be honest, if you ask us, bringing in Juarez feels like a bad idea and one that is almost certain to fail, if it does end up materialising.

He has about a 25 per cent win rate at Pumas UNAM. So, it is not hard to understand why the Mexican team might end up sacking him.

At the same time, it is also important to point out the successes that he has enjoyed as a manager. In his role before this, Juarez won the league and cup double with Colombian giants Atletico Nacional. So, it has not all been bad for him in management.

All things considered, Celtic appointing Juarez would come out of left field and is pretty unlikely to happen, if you ask us. Then again, we have seen some pretty unexpected things happen at the club over just the previous week. So, never say never in football.
