Celtic are reportedly scouting Scotland international Scott McKenna. The defender would likely complete a move to the club in the summer and would work under the next permanent manager.

According to reports in Croatia, the Hoops are very interested in the player. He is about to win the league with Dinamo Zagreb, which would land him the first league winners' medal of his career.

The Scotsman only joined the Croatian side last summer, but could already be on the way out. Zagreb's chief scout confirmed the rumours of a potential departure, mentioning that they would likely be looking for a fee of around £10 million.

The 29-year-old would bring experience to Parkhead, having already previously played in the Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen. He could be a good option, but whether the Celts' interest will turn into a genuine offer is yet to be seen.

Celtic keen to bring in a new centre-back

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been injured for most of this season, and while Liam Scales and Auston Trusty have largely stepped up to the call, there are hopes that Celtic will look to bolster their options.

The Hoops have an existing interest in former Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak, who they may look to bring in on a free transfer for next season.

He is set to depart Bundesliga side Hoffenheim at the end of the season, and having previously been labelled as a 'big talent' by former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, there is some promise that he would bring to the club.

You can't help but feel that McKenna would be a better option, what with having domestic SPFL experience under his belt. If we could bring him to the club for a fee that isn't too high, he would be a brilliant option.

£10 million is a bit steep though. It certainly isn't out of the question for the Hoops, but they may choose to spend that type of money on someone with more potential. We all know Celtic loves a player they can buy on the cheap and then sell on for a massive fee, so unless something has changed, McKenna doesn't fit that bill.

With Jens Berthel Askou and Robbie Keane currently leading the race to become the next manager, they could opt for the experienced McKenna. Importantly, they have other options available, so things are still up in the air. There is no doubt that Celtic do need defensive reinforcements, so it will be an exciting summer transfer window.
