As the January transfer window enters its final two weeks, Celtic fans are still waiting for the club to show some ambition and urgency to go on and win the league title race, as they still trail Hearts by six points. Coming into 2026, the expectation was that the Hoops would make several additions to their squad this winter. Instead, a familiar story has unfolded right in front of our eyes.
There have been rumours of interest, approaches, talks and negotiations. But at the end of the day, nothing concrete has happened. The only signing of the winter remains Julian Araujo, who was brought in on loan from Bournemouth on January 2. Two-and-a-half weeks have passed since then, and worryingly, nothing even seems advanced at the moment.
If the new reports that are emerging are accurate, then it looks like Celtic are trying to move forward in the race for a Crystal Palace winger. There is one obstacle that still needs to be overcome, though.
As reported by GIVEMESPORT. Celtic have made an £8m offer to sign Crystal Palace forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in a loan-to-buy deal, according to reports. The Hoops are believed to be looking to sign the English player on loan with an option to buy, while the Eagles are looking to secure an obligation to make the deal permanent after the season.
Celtic reportedly make £8 million bid for English winger
Rak-Sakyi spent the first half of this season out on loan at Caykur Rizespor, scoring four goals for the Turkish side. But he was recalled by Crystal Palace earlier this month.
It is hard to imagine that Crystal Palace are thinking about Rak-Sakyi spending the second half of the season at Selhurst Park. It is much more likely that he was brought back with the intention of finding him a new home, whether that be on a permanent basis right now, or on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
The longer this drags on, the more interesting this will get, as both teams need to get deals done this winter. Which side will budge first?
Let's also not forget that Celtic are not the only club interested in Rak-Sakyi this winter. Swansea City and Stoke City are also rumoured to be keeping a close eye on the winger's situation at Crystal Palace and could make a move if the right opportunity presents itself.
