It is pretty clear that Celtic view Kasper Dolberg as their number one target in the final days of the summer transfer window. It is believed that the Hoops are looking to bring in as many as three new players before the deadline. And judging by the uninspiring and flat performance at Ibrox in a goalless draw, they certainly need them.
Celtic did what St Mirren, Dundee, Motherwell and Alloa Athletic could not. And that is fail to score against the Rangers, who had conceded six times in their previous match against Club Brugge in midweek.
Celtic are missing an out-and-out goalscorer right now. Dolberg can provide them with that. That being said, the club will need to find an agreement with Anderlecht as well as on personal terms. There is not much time left to do that.
As reported by DH Sports (via The Scottish Sun), Celtic were way off with their first approach. Their initial bid was less than half the minimum asking price Anderlecht set. The Scottish champions are now readying a third approach after the first two were turned down.
Celtic ready third bid for Kasper Dolberg but there's also worrying news
Well, Celtic putting in a bid less than half of what Anderlecht are looking for does not really come as a surprise to those keeping a close eye on the club's transfer activity in recent times. That has been the story of their summer.
Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic are able to close down that gap in valuation. They do not have much time to negotiate.
It is believed that a fee in the region of £8.5 million would be enough to convince Anderlecht to part ways with Dolberg. And to be honest, that feels like a fair asking price in today's market.
