There are some areas where Celtic still need to strengthen. It became clear in the Scottish League Cup final against the Rangers that left-back might still be a weak point for the Hoops. Greg Taylor might have scored on the day but his overall performance was nothing to write home about. His cover option, Alex Valle, is only on loan from FC Barcelona.

As a result, Celtic could do with another left-back right now. Yet, it looks like they are ready to let the club's most in-form one leave on a permanent basis for a relatively modest transfer fee.

The player we are talking about is Alexandro Bernabei. He enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at SC Internacional and was the best left-back in the Brazilian league. But despite that, it looks like he is not expected to get a second chance to show what he is capable of at Celtic.

As reported by scinter.com.br, Internacional are trying to define the future of Bernabei. The board is trying to negotiate a new loan with Celtic, since a permanent signing, valued at €5 million, is considered unfeasible.

Many would argue that Celtic should give Bernabei another chance. He has proven that he is capable of performing at a high level, even though it was while on loan in Brazil.

The style and philosophy of football at Celtic, in Scotland and Europe is certainly different. So, it remains to be seen if Bernabei is able to make that adjustment. Last time around, he was not and faced some issues off the field as well.

He might very well have grown as a player and professional since then. But considering the recent speculation around his situation, it feels unlikely that he will stay at Celtic.
