Celtic and Rangers urged to sign in-form Scottish midfielder
Celtic have not signed many players from the Scottish league in recent years. There is no doubt that there is talent to be found in Scotland though. Just look at how well Luke McCowan has done since coming in. Yes, he is probably not going to be a regular starter for the Hoops but when you have to play this amount of games every season, you need quality depth.
McCowan is yet to start a game for Celtic but he has looked solid whenever he has come on. And that could see him get more playing time moving forward.
There are other such players around the Scottish league who could do a job for Celtic and the Rangers. The Glasgow giants have been suggested to keep an eye on one of McCowan's former Dundee FC teammates.
The player we are talking about is Lyle Cameron. The 22-year-old Scottish midfielder has been in superb form this season and it is only a matter of time before clubs come calling.
Celtic and Rangers urged to sign in-form Scottish midfielder
The suggestion has come from Andy Halliday. While speaking on Open Goal, he said:
"Dundee fans won’t like this, but Lyall Cameron is the next one. Go and sign him."
Of course, Cameron is not someone expected to walk into the first-team at Parkhead or Ibrox. But Halliday further explained:
"I’m not saying this is the player that’s going to come in and make the immediate impact for you, he is going to be the difference. But when I look at the squad players that Rangers and Celtic have signed over the years and spent good dough on, surely go and sign these boys."
Cameron is in the form of his life at Dundee right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists this season so far.
On the other hand, it looks like it is not going to work out for Odin Thiago Holm at Celtic Park. So, if the Norwegian midfielder were to leave, it would make sense for the Hoops to bring in someone like Cameron to fill that role in the squad rather than looking at players abroad whose transfer fees would be a lot higher.
